We are thrilled to announce that rising artists Levitation and J Wils, who are currently headlining the prestigious All Stars Tour music showcase, have had their powerful collaborative track “Outside” selected to feature in the highly anticipated documentary, “Killa Hill,” premiering on Tubi TV this April 1st.
The documentary, directed by Wu-Tang Clan’s longtime video director Gerald “Gee-Bee” Barclay and executive produced by RZA, Raekwon, Herman Dawson and Gano Grills, offers an intimate look at Staten Island’s Park Hill neighborhood. “Killa Hill” will showcase J Wils and Levitation’s distinctive sound as part of its compelling soundtrack. This placement marks a significant milestone in J Wils and Levitation’s careers, and has already generated significant buzz with fans requesting “Outside” non-stop on Hartford’s Hot 93.7 FM playlist.
From Wu-Tang Clan’s Video Director: The “Killa Hill” Movie Documentary
“Killa Hill” chronicles the rich cultural history of Staten Island’s Park Hill neighborhood, famously known as the birthplace of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. The documentary provides an authentic perspective guided by notable figures with deep connections to the area, including Wu-Tang members RZA and Raekwon, who serve as executive producers. The film explores how this specific community nurtured one of hip-hop’s most influential collectives and how the neighborhood’s distinct energy and character have influenced music, art, and culture beyond its geographical boundaries.
Park Hill: A Cross-Generational Appeal
What makes the Park Hill neighborhood’s legacy so remarkable is its ability to influence multiple generations of artists. From the groundbreaking Wu-Tang Clan who emerged from this community in the early 1990s to the continued cultural relevance today, the area has maintained its importance through pioneering sounds, distinct storytelling, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Now, as new generations of artists with connections to hip-hop icons begin to emerge in their own right, including the children of Wu-Tang members, we’re witnessing the next chapter in this extraordinary cultural saga.
The Flowery Fest Performance Announced
In addition to this exciting documentary feature, we’re pleased to share that Levitation and J Wils will be performing live together at this year’s Flowery Fest. The performance will be particularly special as they share the stage with Wu-Tang Clan’s Kids: Chey, daughter of Method Man, and Weather Park, son of the late Old Dirty Bastard.
This multi-generational lineup represents both the enduring influence of Wu-Tang Clan and the fresh voices carrying forward hip-hop’s evolution. The festival appearance offers fans a rare opportunity to experience the intersection of Wu-Tang’s legacy and contemporary artistic expression through these talented Connecticut artists, who have been building a strong following with recent hits like “Ride The Wave” and “Loving You.”
About Levitation and J Wils
Levitation, a standout voice from Connecticut’s vibrant hip-hop scene, has been making waves in the music industry with her innovative sound and thought-provoking lyrics. Her track “Outside,” which features fellow Connecticut hip-hop artist J Wils, exemplifies her ability to create music that resonates on multiple levels – personally, culturally, and emotionally – while representing the rich diversity of East Coast hip-hop beyond the traditional New York spotlight.
J Wils brings an impressive industry pedigree to the collaboration, having produced the platinum record “My Kinda Girls” for Fat Joe and Terror Squad back in 2001 through LaSmouve Production on Atlantic/Big Beat Records. As an artist, producer, songwriter, performer, and CEO of LaSmouve Records out of Bridgeport, CT, J Wils has built a multifaceted career that spans decades in the music industry, including recent Afropop releases like “It’s Your Birthday” and performances alongside international stars like Kizz Daniels.
The duo has been gaining significant momentum in recent months, with their top playlist singles “Ride The Wave” and “Loving You” earning critical acclaim and expanding their audience reach across streaming platforms. Hot 93.7 FM in Hartford has been instrumental in supporting these local artists, adding both tracks to their regular playlist and helping to build the duo’s growing fanbase.
The selection of “Outside” for “Killa Hill” recognizes how Levitation and J Wils’ collaborative artistry embodies a spirit of innovation and authenticity that resonates with the documentary’s themes. Much like how Park Hill birthed the revolutionary Wu-Tang Clan with their distinctive culture and history, these Connecticut artists bring a fresh perspective while honoring hip-hop’s rich traditions.
As emerging artists gaining national attention, their inclusion in this documentary highlights how the influence of the legendary Staten Island neighborhood continues to inspire artists throughout the Northeast corridor and beyond.
We’re also pleased to announce that both Levitation and J Wils will be attending the “Killa Hill” documentary premiere, representing the Connecticut hip-hop scene at this significant cultural event. This appearance comes amid their ongoing headlining performances on the All Stars Tour music showcase, which connects local artists with media and fans across NY, NJ, CT, MA, RI, and DC throughout the year.
MTV Family Legacy Series Season 2 Premiere
We’re also excited to announce that both Levitation and J Wils will be attending the premiere of Season 2 of the acclaimed MTV Family Legacy Series on March 25th. This groundbreaking show continues its exploration of music icons through the stories of their children, with a special focus on the Wu-Tang Clan’s legacy in this upcoming season.
The MTV Family Legacy Series has been praised for its authentic portrayal of how musical legacies are carried forward through generations, making the Connecticut duo’s attendance at the premiere particularly meaningful given their upcoming performance with Chey and Weather Park at Flowery Fest.
This confluence of events – from their song’s inclusion in the “Killa Hill” documentary, to appearances at MTV Family Legacy Series premiere, to sharing the stage with Chey and Weather Park, all while headlining the All Stars Tour music showcase throughout the Northeast – positions these Connecticut artists at an exciting intersection of hip-hop’s storied past and promising future.
